Terrifier 2 Review: Gorier and more brutal than the first

Synopsis:

Resurrected by a sinister entity, Art the Clown returns to Miles County to terrorize a teenage girl and her younger brother on Halloween night

When it comes to makes a sequel to an instant cult classic such as Terrifier, it could be a tall task. However, for Damien Leone and company they make strides making the sequel better than the first. This time they include a much stronger narrative to the story other than just awesome kills the original is now infamously known for.

The homicidal maniac Art The Clown brilliantly portrayed by David Howard Thornton the second time around, he seems right at home with all the manically creative kills that slap your face all around from the beginning to the end of the film. When you first notice the runtime of Terrifier 2 being 2 hours and 20 minutes being the length of a typical MCU film, one might ask if their going to be self indulgent.

The quick is answer is thankfully no, Damien and David keep the grotesque horror at the pace like you were watching The Kentucky Derby, it’s so ferocious and fast you’ll have an undeniable smile on your face as well as a grin from all the nods and homages to ‘80s horror. Including cameos from Felissa Rose, Chris Jericho, and Tamara Glynn. The main actress Lauren LaVera gives an excellent and grounded performance in a slasher film you don’t see often enough anymore. She is worthy of the best final girls.

There’s not much wrong with Terrifier 2 for a slasher fan, it’s amazing. The thing missing from the original was indeed characters to care about and a narrative and like I previously stated they fixed that majorly in this sequel and I hope there’s more Art, I originally found the first Terrifier to be overrated at times, but I find Terrifier 2 to be an instant slasher classic for the Halloween season.

Overall Grade: 4/5 stars
