The Spine of Night 4K Blu-Ray Review

The Spine of Night is Heavy Metal meets Games of Thrones, it’s a brilliant bloody fantasy flick, that makes for the best adult animated film of all time. I know a lot of people may get upset when I say it’s light years above Heavy Metal, but hey, that’s just my opinion and my taste.

The voice cast in The Spine of Night is terrific including Lucy Lawless and the unexpected Patton Oswalt, who seems to be popping up everywhere lately in voice work including Hulu’s excellent MODOK. When it comes down to it, The Spine of Night should get a Criterion Collection release in the future by how beautifully bizarre it is. It has plenty of gore for the horror fans here, as well as fantasy aspects to keep other folks interested as well.

The Blu-Ray comes with two short films that are badass in their own right and makes for a great pairing for the film once your done watching it, I typically don’t indulge myself with supplements and special features, however, The Spine of Night may have changed my mind on that completely. This is possibly the best thing to come to Shudder since ‘Mandy’.
