Psycho Ape Review- ‘The Room’ of Ape movies

Psycho Ape is ‘The Room’ of Ape movies. It is so bad its highly entertaining almost like a troma film. It will find its niche audience swift and fast becoming a cult hit amongst the underground of filmmaking.

If you are a fan of what Joe Bob Brigg’s plays on The Last Drive-In I do think Psycho Ape is for you. Its slightly a difficult movie to review since the run time is only 64 minutes long. Almost working as an extended short film.

Addison Binek has a fun time letting everyone do their own thing in Psycho Ape it is a blast watching all the actors involved in the movie just let it flow and have a great time in front of the camera. If you do happen to pick up Psycho Ape, do not expect high quality in its production value as it even lower than a shoestring budget. It is a group of friends in front of the camera having a fun time.

This is the type of movie however, that would be perfect in a Drive-In setting especially in a midnight showing. Just to have a rowdy crowd ready to get drunk and laugh in the tradition of ‘The Room’ success after its initial release. Although Psycho Ape, I have a feeling is intentional in that regard, but it knows what it is and succeeds in giving you a fun time.

Overall, Psycho Ape is not going to be for everyone. If you do find yourself enjoying it I do think you could watch it multiple times and make a drinking game of it with your buddies when you are like “Hey man, have you heard of this Psycho Ape movie?” it’ll slap a big smile on your face if that’s what you are looking for.

Overall grade: 2.5/5 stars
