Nita-Josee Hanna interview-Psycho Goreman

Last week we were fortunate enough to speak with the star of the fantastic Psycho Goreman Nita and she was a real treat to speak with. These kids who were in this movie are going to the real deal and I can’t wait for people to see Psycho Goreman

Ajay:
Hey, how are you?

Nita:
I’m good. How are you?

AJ
I’m doing good. So what got you interested in Psycho Gorman?

Nita:
Well, this was at the very, very beginning of my acting career and I was really just looking for anything that I could start off my career and kick it off with. I never think that it’d be something so big, but when I see what Mimi and her description of her character, it got me even more intrigued and more interested in, and wanting the part that much more. It wasn’t just your normal little girl that listens to her parents and does what she’s told. It’s very much so actually the opposite of that. And so after I got the part, I was so excited to get the full script and finally read it. It was definitely not your typical movie, but I’m so glad that I got to be a part of it.

AJ
And how was it like working with Owen on this too because you two have such great chemistry as brother and sister and just, how was that like on set every day?

Nita:
Oh, I loved Owen. I loved working with him. He’s a very great guy, very respectful, and I think that he’s going to go a very long way in his career. If I got the chance to work with him again, I definitely would. He was such a fun person to work around, especially. We both got a little bit too hyper, but sometimes you need to be calmed down, but overall it was a very great experience.

Aj
And how was it seeing the monsters in Psycho Gorman? Because he was talking about when he was watching it on set, and he didn’t really think how it would work, but when you watched it’s How was it seeing the monsters on screen when you were watching Psycho Gorman?

Nita:
You would think that they probably don’t look as great in person, but you’re actually wrong. It looked so cool in person seeing PG, even, almost I say even cooler than it did seeing it on screen. Just because in person, you could see all the little details on his face, even down to his little eyes that were blacked out with contacts or his teeth that he had retainers in. It was really, really cool.

Aj
And knowing that this new economy does a whole lot of tropes on kids’ movies, but it’s aimed towards a more adult demographic. How was it reading the script and just knowing that it feels like a kid’s movie money’s being aimed towards a more higher demographic in age?

Nita:
Yeah. I think that it was such an interesting take on a horror movie, and I think that it couldn’t have turned that any better, honestly. I think it appeals to a very big demographic, first of all. You can watch it as a young adult up to some older adults. So I think that it is very smart move putting some comedy and horror in it and I think that people are really going to love it and I hope everybody’s hard work pays off.

Aj
And how was it like being under Steven on this because he did such a great job with directing on Psycho Gorman? How was it working along Stephen on set?

Nita:
Steven is such also he’s such a great guy. He has a lot of patience, and he always tries to give out his directions in the nicest way possible, but it was really great, and I would love to work with him again.

Aj
How has it been seeing the positive feedback of Psycho Gorman so far?

Nita:
Yeah, it’s incredible. I didn’t expect that I had such a positive response on my very first show. I really haven’t seen any bad, very bad reviews on it. I think everybody pretty much really loves it, which makes me so happy. I think that if I were to do it again, I hope there’s a sequel because I just want to see everybody again, very soon.

Aj
And just dealing with everything on set and the way it’s being released online. I mean, of course, you want to see this in theaters on the biggest screen possible, but it’s so cool being able to see this at home too, and maybe you can finally watch it with your family, which has to be exciting as well.

Nita:
I’m very excited for my family and my friends, just because of this project that I have worked very, very hard on it and I can’t wait for everybody to see it. Not only my family and friends but everybody else’s family and friends and they can share it with some other friends and then the other friends can share it with some other people. So I hope that it gets around.

Aj
And one final question for you. What was some of the happiest moments that you’ve had on set while filming?

Nita:
The happiest moments was definitely those late nights where we could finally wrap, and it was 3:00 AM, and everybody’s just wanting to go to the hotel and sleep. And I was usually the one that was fumble on my lines and basically keep everybody waiting there. So when I could get that line right and get it right a few times to get a few takes, it was honestly one of the most exciting moments on set.

Aj
Well, thank you so much for joining me tonight. It’s been really fun, and congratulations on Psycho Gorman.
