In surprising news Warner Brothers and HBO Max has decided to move Godzilla Vs Kong up two month to March 26th. This could come as the deal between Legendary Pictures and Warner Media were finalized for at least this title. I hear rumblings that Dune is still up in the air.
Legendary Entertainment and Warner Bros. recently reached a deal after Legendary was left surprised following Warner’s announcement that they would be releasing their entire 2021 slate in theaters and on HBO Max. As Legendary had put a significant amount of money into Godzilla vs. Kong (as well as Denis Villeneuve’s Dune), the company was worried that a streaming debut would put a large dent into any money they would receive. It seems that now all sides are fairly agreeable with the deal. I wouldn’t say both sides are happy because Legendary still wants as much money as it could make(who wouldn’t).
