Train To Busan present Peninsula is its attempt at a Fast and Furious style of a film, and what I mean by that is that is all style and no substance. It starts off with a bang and never stops. It also never stops to let us ask if we care about the characters as much as we did in the original sleeper hit.
While fans of fast paced action horror are more than going to love the hell out of this sequel as all it is, is just action and barely any extended plot. To me it felt like watching an entire season of The Walking Dead, and I’m not a fan of that show, Train to Busan 2 does have a lot of fun moments. It just didn’t do a whole lot for me at the end of the day.
Overall, I just thought the movie was very generic and hey that may get people to rent it because there won’t be a whole lot of thinking involved and you can easily multitask during Train To Busan 2, however, I just really wanted more to chew on while I was watching after being pleasantly surprised by the original.
Overall grade: 2/5 stars
