In a wise move by Universal, the studio has pushed back Candyman till 2021. We don’t know the release date as of yet, since it is unset at this time. Which is a smart move, along with the recent announcement from Sony studios that they will not release any new big movie until the pandemic is over.
This may come to light because a lot of studios are looking at Tenet’s box office numbers which aren’t promising enough to exactly enthrall studios to release IP titles at this time.
Candyman is billed as a “spiritual sequel” to the original 1992 horror film, returning the action to a now-gentrified Chicago neighborhood where the legend began. As we’ve learned there is no plans for a PVOD release with Candyman, as it’s strictly made for theaters.
