Cursed Films is the new documentary series on Shudder that is somewhat uneven throughout the first season that leaves room for vast improvement for the second season renewal that it already received.
There are only five episodes in the first season including you the mythos of the cursed productions on poltergeist, The Omen, The Exorcist, The Crow, and Twilight Zone: The Movie. However, we’re about to discuss how the documentary series misses the mark.
I chose to watch the first three episodes of Cursed Films to get an overall feel for what the series was going for. In the first two episodes, there were so many things going on including producers and cast members complaining about why their films are considered cursed when we don’t talk about what happened on Apocalypse Now just because it isn’t horror… Well I got news for them, there is plenty of talk about what happened on sets like Apocalypse Now and The Shining which was also brought up.
I would have liked it more if it focused more on the movie itself than fan interviews visiting the sets and filming locations and cast members complaining that why do people consider their films cursed. To me, it was just a misfire, here’s hoping season 2 fixes that. At least each episode is less than 30 minutes…
