Most Wanted Review

While this film is not typical horror, it is a true-crime story we wanted to take a look at. With an all-star cast featuring Josh Hartnett and Jim Gaffigan(whom we also got to interview for this film), there are plenty of terrors you see in this film that shows Josh’s and Jim’s range and hopefully gets Jim Gaffigan much more needed serious dramatic work.

Synopsis:

Inspired by the gripping true story, an investigative journalist (Josh Hartnett) unravels a twisted case of entrapment wherein a guy from the wrong side of the tracks, Daniel (Antoine-Olivier Pilon), is forced into a dangerous drug deal against his will and is sentenced to 100 years in a Thai prison. As Daniel endures torture and abuse, the journalist must track down the shady undercover cops benefiting off the conspiracy, while also fighting for Daniel’s freedom.

Jim Gaffigan in Most Wanted

Review:

This is an incredible movie, to begin with, a surprising knock-out performance from stand up comedian Jim Gaffigan who dominates every scene he is in as the drug kingpin. Josh Hartnett may give the performance of his career here. I have never particularly been big on Josh Hartnett but he just owns this role here. Antoine-Olivier Pilon gives the film so much heart that is awe-inspiring to watch it unravel, you feel for his character.

Josh Hartnett in Most Wanted

The character development here is unbelievable some of the best of the year. In which you see the characters just grow up in front of you. Sure they must have exaggerated the truth in this film it’s based on to ante up the drama. I never heard of this story before so I don’t know what is real and what isn’t.

The directing by Daniel Roby should get him a lot of love, the pacing and tension are beautifully shot and crafted. He should be on the list for Independent Film Spirit Awards for Best Director. Going back to what I said about Jim Gaffigan’s performance, this movie should get him more serious roles he proves he can carry his own.

In conclusion, if you’re looking for an entertaining true crime story this should be up your alley. The acting, writing, and directing are all up to par. I would highly recommend it.
