Ah, 2020 has already been great for a thinking person horror. First with Color Out of Space, Gretel and Hansel, The Lodge, The Invisible Man and now here comes the mind-blowing genre-bending thriller that is a mix of The Prisoner with Alfred Hitchcock themes.
I flat out adored everything about this film starring Imogen Poots(Green Room, Popstar) and Jesse Eisenberg(The Social Network, Zombieland) both give top-notch performances Imogen Poots gives a case that this might be her best work to date. Jesse also continues his hot streak with Zombieland 2: Double Tap and The Art of Self Defense. The acting is superb and brilliant here, it could be used in college courses for future aspiring actors.
The plot is very unique and follows a couple travel to a suburban neighbourhood in which all the houses look identical. But when they try to leave the labyrinth-like development, each road mysteriously takes them back to where they started. It’s a mind-bender of a film that is simply one of the years best science fiction horror thrillers of the year this far. It does have a required taste for its audience if you enjoyed the previous films at the top of the review you should find this a real treat. It’s one of my favorites of the year.
