The Wave is a mind-bending trip you need to take multiple times
The Wave is a new feature film starring Justin Long and Donald Faison and being distributed by Epic Pictures. I was lucky enough to catch a screener for The Wave at the tail end of last year, with little to zero expectations for it. I was blown away by the whole production.
Justin Long is usually always solid but if you have a long career like his(remember he started out in Galaxy Quest) you’re bound to have a few mishaps along the way, but what I appreciate about Justin is that he always takes chances with the characters he chooses to portray. The Wave is no different even if he plays the typical asshole character he normally does, the script and visuals are really different to be a part of. He genuinely knocks this performance out of the park. Same goes for Donald Faison who is having a terrific year with The Wave and Emergence he seems to have him a resurgence into the spotlight.
The directing is also very well done with the handling of the special effects and the pacing of the film is never dull.
When Frank goes out on the town to celebrate an upcoming promotion, his night takes an unexpected and bizarre turn when he is dosed with a hallucinogen that alters his perception and changes his life forever.
