R. Lee Ermey buried at Arlington National Cemetery

R. Lee Ermey died recently and was known for his iconic part in Stanley Kubrick’s sensational powerful Full Metal Jacket. One of my all time favorites I have the movie on blu ray digital and dvd also have the poster in my entertainment room. It’s been a while since I have visited the film so this may be an ideal time to pay respects to a former Marine turned actor.

Here is an excerpt from the Marine times.

Prior Marine Staff. Sgt. R. Lee Ermey lived his life in a way that was “outspoken, rebellious, and creative,” as his obituary states, even until his last breaths at 74 years old.

Ermey, or “the Gunny” as he’s known from his most famous acting role — he appeared in more than 60 feature films — as Gunnery Sgt. Hartman in the legendary 1987 Marine film, “Full Metal Jacket,” died April 15, 2018, in his home state of California from complications with pneumonia.

And now, nine months later, the iconic Marine drill instructor has finally been laid to rest.

He was nominated for a golden globe for his turn in Full Metal Jacket. He has 125 acting credits and is also know for Se7en Mississippi Burning The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2003 and playing sarge in the Toy Story movies.
