Now this is a special treat for fans of the ‘Ghostbusters’ franchise.
Thirty years later and now we may possibly have the third installment in the franchise. Of course if you aren’t counting the 2016 film as part of the official canon.
The original cast including Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, Rick Moranis, Sigourney Weaver and Harold Ramis.
Considering that some of the original cast appeared in the 2016 film as different characters, I vote it took place in a entire different universe. Aykroyd did not specify any details but shared on an episode of AXS TV’s The Big Interview with Dan Rather, that there is a possibility of a new film.
The film isn’t set in stone just yet but I’m sure fans are reaching for hope that it does happen (myself included). However there are a couple of dilemmas that they might need to hurdle. Rick Moranis took almost a decade long hiatus from acting when his wife passed away back in 1991. Not only he left the public eye for many years also, declining a cameo for the 2016 film. He did however reprise his role as Dark Helmet from ‘Spaceballs’ earlier this year, on ‘The Goldbergs’.
The next dilemma would be handling with the passing of Harold Ramis. Not only was he one of the key aspects of the original movies, but he was also one of the co-writers. The studio could decided weather or not to kill off his character or have him appear as a ghost. Hopefully this movie does come to life considering my parents and I loved those movies so much. If Aykroyd shares any more updates, we are all ears.
