Most people will agree that neither Godzilla nor King Kong are creatures that invoke fear.
Maybe what they symbolize – both culturally and socially – can be frightening. Perhaps during the era when the two monsters first hit theaters (1954 and 1933 respectively), the creatures brought an unprecedented angst to movie goers.
Our hardening over time and overall lack of sensitivity to violence, however, has removed most fears from these iconic figures.
Nonetheless, Warner Bros. Will be releasing Godzilla vs. Kong in 2020 and many people are eagerly anticipating its debut. And why not?
A movie centered on a brutal fight between two larger-than-life figures in the midst of “insignificant” humans, with the benefit of today’s technology and special effects, has the potential of being a genuine, big action blockbuster.
If the idea of the two monsters squaring off isn’t enough to spark your interest, WB has recently provided the internet with a synopsis hoping to draw your attention.
Their recently dropped synopsis states:
In a time when monsters walk the Earth, humanity’s fight for its future sets Godzilla and Kong on a collision course that will see the two most powerful forces of nature on the planet collide in a spectacular battle for the ages. As Monarch embarks on a perilous mission into uncharted terrain and unearths clues to the Titans’ origins, a human conspiracy threatens to wipe the creatures, both good and bad, from the face of the earth forever.
Like many fans of both franchises, I am definitely ready to see a battle! My money is on Godzilla, even if the studio gives the nod to Kong!
Godzilla vs Kong is coming on May 22, 2020.
