As the ‘Conjuring’ franchise continues to grow, both Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga are reprising their roles as Ed and Lorriane Warren for the next film.
New Line Cinema are a committed bunch as they recently announced that ‘The Curse of La Llorana’ director, Michael Chaves would be taking over for James Wan as director.
As the two actors will be involved in the other spin-off films like ‘Annabelle 3’ and ‘The Crooked Man’, they take center stage with the third ‘Conjuring’ film.
Right before Wan stepped down as director, he was convinced to give Chaves the directing job because of how impressed he was with ‘The Curse of La Llorana’. Wan is still producing so not all hope is lost. We also have a little information about the plot. The story is supposed to be about a man convicted of murder. He goes on record to claim that he was possessed by a demon and nautrally the Warren’s would investigate the case.
‘The Conjuring 3’ is set to start production early next year, aiming for a summer release. With the success of ‘The Nun’ pulling in an impressive $330 million with a $22 million dollar budget, it wouldn’t be surprising that New Line Cinema decides to make a sequel for that film as well. The screenwriter for the ‘Annabelle’ films and ‘The Nun’, Gary Dauberman will be making his debut as director for ‘The Conjuring 3’ and that production has started. It’s excited to note that ‘The Conjuring 3’ will be shifting focus from the typical haunted house formula onto more of a horror crime drama.
There is no set release date as of now but we will stay updated as shooting is set to begin sometime next year, while aiming for a 2020 release date.
