There is now an image of Chucky for the reboot of Child’s Play and it’s alright.
You can see enough of his face to know that it’s new but also there is a sense of familiarity as well. The signature freckles and evil smile are there but the hair looks the same. The texture of his skin is updated to show you that even though it might be a new doll, it’s still a reimagining of the classic doll so some features carried over.
A lot of fans of the franchise didn’t see the need for a reboot considering that it hit cult classic status especially the most recent installment, Call of Chucky. I think it’s a wise decision for MGM and Orion to reboot the franchise in order to open a higher demographic of people. If anything, the doll looks more like a baby which could increase the creepiness of his existence. Production has indeed started with Polaroid director, Lars Klevberg and 1988 Child’s Play writer, Tyler Burton Smith. Aubrey Plaza and Brian Tyree Henry star in the film and principal photography has started in Vancouver. 2017 IT producers David Katzenberg and Seth Grahame Smith join along for the ride under the production studio, Katzsmith Productions.
There is no release date as of now but a mid-to-late 2019 release seems likely. Be sure to drop by the Infamous Horror Facebook page and site for updates.
