Met@slash: a short movie that works very well

A boy is home alone, scrolling through his social media. A killer is on the loose. The evening quickly takes a turn for the worse in what is a horror film about online privacy and how easy it is to track somebody down through popular social media habits and apps that are meant to keep you safe.

But this is not the only worth-noting fact about the film, since Metaslash is a homage to the horror genre itself. This short film can be characterized as a self-referential narrative, since it has a plethora of references to the cinematic horror. Within 3 minutes, the audience can find over 50 references to famous horror films such as The Shinning, Friday the 13th, Halloween, The Blair Witch Project, and Psycho! Within this context, Nathan Baesel, the star of Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon (a famous contemporary indie slasher) has a key-role in Metaslash!

Review:

The short film is as fun as a short film should be. The references to the horror films are amazing, I loved that alot. Go see the film right now, I am pretty sure that it’ll be 3 of the best minutes of your life.
