It has been 14 years since Devils Rejects and Sheri Moon Zombie, Sid Haig and Bill Moseley are returning to the silver screen and spilling blood as the Firefly Family trio.
In 2019, Rob Zombie will be bringing 3 From Hell, the third film in his Firefly Family series, to theaters and he gave Loudwire a scoop of what fans can expect to see when Baby, Captain Spaulding and Otis make their long awaited return.
With the plot of 3 From Hell still under wraps and considered top secret, Zombie has confirmed that 3 From Hell is not a prequel. Even though, the three titular characters met their ends in the bloody final scene of Devil’s Rejects. It seems they may have actually made it out of the shootout alive, instead of what we were lead to believe as the credits began to crawl.
Here’s what Rob Zombie had to say:
“It’s nothing [like] what people seem to think, which is always fun to read, because everybody’s like, ‘Oh, I know what this is. It’s exactly this.’ And they’re always wrong, which is great.
I’ll just say it’s not a prequel. I’m making this movie 15 years after the last movie, so my cast is aging the wrong direction and I certainly didn’t replace them with other actors. The one thing I will say is that when we got together — because my biggest fear of making this movie was the actors won’t have the vibe they had — it was almost spooky how much [they vibed.] It didn’t seem like it was 15 years later, it seemed like it was six months later.
I believe in this movie. They’ve taken everything they’ve done to a whole new level and I think it’s the best they’ve ever been. The general vibe was like, ‘Wow, this is like right where we left off.’ It was really kind of weird. It was something special when I made Devil’s Rejects. There was just a vibe we had at the time we were doing it, and we’re like, “Man, if we can’t recapture that, it’s going to feel like a struggle,” but right from the get-go it was right there.”
Rob Zombie still has a lot of work to do on 3 From Hell including scoring the film and editing the film as well which he says will begin in September. A 2019 release date will be a for sure thing from what Zombie is saying. At the moment, he is determined not to rush the film and doesn’t want to be stressed with meeting a release date.
Here’s hoping that once he does enter the editing room that a trailer will be cut soon, if not before then, and we can see what Rob Zombie has in store for us this time around with the Firefly Family. All we can do is speculate for the mean time on how we believe Zombie is weaving his trilogy.
Are you excited to see 3 From Hell? Is it 15 years later in the film? Did they survive? Is Dr. Satan going to be in this film?
Let us know in the comments and let us know how you think the film will interweave with its predecessors.
